The Humane Society of Dickson Co Needs Your Support!

The Humane Society of Dickson County has been overwhelmed with many animals due to the recent  hoarder situations in neighboring counties, plus the animals dropped off, etc.

Saturday, June 17th, there will be a Pancakes for the Pups! donation drive at the St. James Episcopal Church in Dickson. While we can’t be there to lend a hand, Tennessee Battery wants to do our part! This Friday and Saturday (06/09 & 06/10) – today, too, if you’re willing!, we will donate $5 for every purchase made to the Humane Society.

Helps us help the wonderful people who take care of and nurture the dogs and cats at the Humane Society! We will ALL appreciate your support!

Growing Pains!

Rumors have been flying, so we thought we would just address them….Yes, you read the sign right. Tennessee Battery Sales will be moving to the 1942 Hwy 46S in Dickson!!! We will open at that location hopefully the last week of May.

We will still be open at the Henslee Drive location as well. Growing pains have forced our hand to move to a larger location. We’ll still have “batteries for everything”, just more of them and new items as well. This move will also allow us to continue with our trailer repair services (three bays vs one!) much more comfortably!

So, as the saying goes, Watch This Space for more moving news!

Happy National Battery Day!!!

Saturday,  February 18, is National Battery Day!  Take charge and make something positive happen!

Sorry about that….In observance of National Battery Day, we will be giving a way a 4pk of AA or AAA Duracell batteries with every purchase over $5!! We’re coming up on Springtime and you just KNOW we’re going to have storms and power outages….. So, in addition to flashlight, smoke detector, battery back-ups (computer, alarm panel, etc) and the other myriad things we all keep in our homes requiring batteries, stock up now!

We also have a new item, the Flip-It. It is very bright, and realflip-itly kind of cool! The light “switch” is 215 lumens, come two flip-its to a pack, and are $15 per pack! Powered by 3AA batteries each, you can add light to any darkened room/closet/trailer/porta-potty…you name it, you’ll be able to see in and around it!

We also have several different lanterns that are battery-operated, kerosene/oil operated, even one that is solar/crank-operated. Come on by and see what we have!!

For those of you who wonder what happens to your old car/truck batteries, the Battery Council International has put together a video and information about the recycling of batteries. Follow this link and see not just how old batteries are recycled, but the secondary life of its components (plastic, acid, etc.). As an authorized DEKA battery dealer, we are proud to tell our customers -,and anyone else! – that DEKA not only recycles the plastic, etc. from old batteries, they even found an additive that neutralizes the used acid and turns it into fertilizer. DEKA’s main plant is in Pennsylvania (hence the East Penn-Deka), and is surrounded by farm land. They make this fertilizer available to the local farmers, which means DEKA recycles right at 100% of the old battery!!

See you Saturday!! Have a Happy National Battery Day!!!

Santa Paws Is Coming To Town!!

Tennessee Battery is all about helping out when we can. We’ve made service calls to the middle of a hay field to help a farmer in need or to help someone who is desperate to get to work and their car won’t start, we’ve stood in the pouring rain in Walmart’s parking lot changing out a battery, and financially/product-wise donated to numerous causes and organizations in Dickson and surrounding counties.

But this is one cause that means a great deal to those of us at Tennessee Battery, animal lovers that we are…Operation Santa Paws!!!!

To blatantly and shamelessly copy from daysoftheyear.com, this explains Operation Santa Paws. Please help us help the Dickson Humane Society – the animals (and employees/volunteers) will love you for it!!!! Also, you can drop off donations at Tennessee Battery Sales or at the Dickson Humane Society, Last Chance Pet Rescue, or any of the rescue organizations you prefer.

“Animals serve an important part in our lives, being those friends and companions that give us love unconditionally. They protect our homes, and are there whenever we need them, asking for nothing but love and tenderness in exchange for all they give. Operation Santa Paws Day is a reminder that we need to return that love, and remember them at this most special time of year.

Every year there is a rush of animals that, through abuse and neglect, wind up abandoned in shelters and animal rescues everywhere. All too often they’re given as birthday or Christmas gifts, and simply abandoned as the shine wears off the newest puppy or the kitten gets grown up. Whatever the case, millions of animals world-wide end up in shelters, and there simply isn’t enough resources to support them all. This is where Operation Santa Paws Day comes in.

History of Operation Santa Paws

This holiday was organized by Justin Rudd in 2001, this holiday was originally put together in Long Beach, California to help support their local shelters and rescues. While anyone can choose to participate by donating new toys, treats, food or money to help keep these dedicated servants of the animal public going. Justin has spread his campaign far and wide, getting stores nationwide to participate in this humanitarian effort.

How to Operation Santa Paws

Celebrating Operation Santa Paws days can happen in a number of ways, from those already mentioned to more dedicated efforts. This holiday is about the animals, but without the support of those individuals who love them and dedicate themselves to their welfare, there’d be nowhere for them to go. When you stop by with your donation of supplies for the furry residents of your local shelter, don’t forget to bring down some tokens of thanks for these hard working saviors of our favorite little beasties.”

So…in light of the giving season and the fact that all rescue centers are overflowing this time of year, please help us help the furry friends that help us get through the holidays, tough times, good times, and all times – because there’s nothing like a furry goofball to make you realize life is really, really good….
